[General Errors According to OS - Windows/MacOS/Linux clients]
When you select a server, click on it, but cannot successfully connect to it, this usually indicates a connection problem between your computer and our server.
In the majority of cases, this can simply solved by disconnecting from the server, waiting 5 seconds, and then reconnecting again to the serve of your choice.
If you try this solution and find that the problem persists, the next step is to check your internet connection, which might be inadvertently blocking our servers or limiting your access to them.
Finally, you can try to change the connection protocol in Preferences > Network Protocol.
When you connect to one of the RingVPN servers, we ensure that your internet connection will have good bandwidth and that your IP address is hidden. Only then will you see the on-screen message from us that, "You are secured by RingVPN."
In some cases, your internet speed may be very slow --- which can be the cause of delays and problems viewing web pages. Alternatively, can be the result of an overloaded server, or a poor original internet connection from your ISP.
In all of the instances where you are not able to view web pages properly, we recommend that you disconnect from the current RingVPN server you have selected, and pick another server that is less overloaded. This usually solves the problem!
When you launch the RingVPN application for the fist time, you must identify yourself with the e-mail and password that you selected when you completed your signup and subscription.
If you are using a different username and password to log in, this may be the problem. Use the original e-mail address and try again.
If you don't remember your original password (when you initially subscribed to RingVPN, we sent you an e-mail inviting you to choose a password -- this will be the password to use), or if you have not set a password yet, go to: https://ringvpn.com/password/reset to reset it.
If you do this and still can't connect when you try to log in, check that your subscription has not expired by going to your secure member panel at on the RingVPN website: https://ringvpn.com/login.

In a nutshell, not all websites are using the newest systems to geolocate you via your IP address. Some of them have databases that actually report incorrect/bad data for certain locations. But, don't worry -- this won't impact the high level of protection that you'll get from using RingVPN!
If you're connected to a RingVPN server and want to shut down RingVPN from Windows, you need to exit securely. This is so you don't accidentally disconnect from RingVPN, lose protection and leak your IP address when that wasn't your intention.
To confirm your secure exit when using Windows, we will at first prompt you to disconnect from the server to protect yourself from any IP leak. In case the disconnection still prevents you from leaving RingVPN, you must "force quit" it to stop, by using one (or all!) of the following Windows procedures:
- Force Quit using ALT+F4
This keyboard shortcut closes programs in Windows. Do it by:
- Bringing the RingVPN program into the foreground by clicking on it.
- Pressing down and holding one of the ALT keys.
- Keep the ALT key pressed down and press the F4 key once.
- Let go of both the ALT and the F4 keys.
- You should have now successfully quit RingVPN!
No? Ok, then next...
Use Task Manager:
The task manager forces a program to quit when it is completely unresponsive. You can do this by:
Opening Task Manager with the shortcut CTRL+ SHIFT+ESC
If this shortcut doesn't open Task Manager, or you cannot access the keyboard, right-click or tap-and-hold on the Desktop taskbar
Next, select Task Manager or Start Task Manager (depending on the Windows version you use) from the pop-up menu that will appear.
Find the RingVPN program in the Task Manager, click on it and follow the prompts to close it.
Right click or tap-and-hold the RingVPN item and choose End Process.
Close Task Manager down.
You're done! You should now have successfully quit RingVPN in Windows.
Still not managed to quit? Then, the final advanced solution is to...
Execute the TASKKILL Command
Running this command prompt in Windows allows you to kill the RingVPN task and exit the program that way by:
Opening the Command Prompt via Run:open with the WIN+R keyboard shortcut
Enter the Taskkill command: taskkill /im ringvpn.exe /t /f
You should now have killed the task! RingVPN should now be terminated! Well done, you're a rock star for getting this far!
Sometimes, a Mac stops responding when you are trying to exit a program.
Don't panic! You can Force-Quit running programs on a Mac by:
Navigating to the Dock or via the Force Quit option from the Apple menu.
Alternatively, you can hit the Command-Option-Escape combination of keys -- this will prompt the Force Quit Applications window.
This can be solved! In Linux, there is a special command called xkill which force quits any program. You can do it by:
- Opening a terminal window
- Typing in ringvpn
- Clicking to open the program to kill it
- Congratulations for being an assassin! You killed it!
Chrome sometimes gets stuck too. Don't worry -- you can force quit an app in Chrome OS by:
- Opening the Task Manager using SHIFT+ESC key combination
- Selecting RingVPN as the program you want to terminate
- Click on the End Process button
- Pat yourself on the back for quitting it successfully!
Your iPad or iPhone loves RingVPN so much that it just won't quit? We have a solution for this! You can Force Quit by:
- Double-pressing the Home button
- Finding the RingVPN app
- Swiping it up --- imagine you are clearing it off of your iPad or iPhone with a flick of your finger.
- Voila! It's closed and you are done!
Even Android devices get a little stuck from time to time. Luckily, it's super-duper easy to Force Quit a program that your Android device doesn't want to let go. Simply:
- Swipe up from the bottom of your Android device screen.
- Swipe the RingVOPN app upwards, off the top of the screen, with a flick of your finger.
- For some Android devices, you can instead tap on the multitasking button, locate the RingVPN app, and flick it off the screen -- either to the right or to the left.
- You're done!
That sucks! But don't worry -- the first thing is to check that your computer is up-to-date. Sometimes, pending updates cause a little mayhem and stop some programs and software from behaving normally. If you see an update is pending, restart your computer and let it update itself. This usually resolves the issue.
Other times, it can be an overly-protective firewall or anti-virus program that prevents you from launching RingVPN. It's a good idea to check that any anti-virus or software program you have installed on your computer is not interfering with the smooth launching of RingVPN.
Still not able to launch after checking out those last two steps? Then, the next solution is to restart your computer -- we find that a shutdown/restart solves the majority of computer glitches!

What are the parameters I can change or set on my computer for RingVPN to operate correctly?
- Launch whenever computer starts: You can choose this button to be on or off.
- Automatic connection to launch -Select this option from the drop-down menu if you want to activate automatic connection.
- Block ads and malware - Instruct RingVPN to block your computer from ads and malicious software by turning this button on. If not, leave it greyed out.
Auto-reconnect - Turn this button on to let RingVPN automatically reconnect should your connection to a server disconnect, time-out or trip-up for any reason. If not, leave this greyed out.
Killswitch - Activate this by switching the button on to allow the killswitch to give you uninterrupted protection -- Note -- for Killswitch to work correctly, you need to have auto-reconnect enabled!
Use a specific DNS - Select a particular DNS server from the drop-down menu, if you have one you prefer. If not, leave this option greyed out.
Network protocol: Ensure that the TCP box is checked.
[iOS/Android general fixes]
That's annoying! Most of the time, this means there is a connection problem between your mobile device and our server.
To solve it, try to disconnect, wait 5 second and reconnect again to the server of your choice.
If the problem persists after you reconnect, check your internet connection -- this may block the connection to our servers or it may be limited.
It is possible that your cellular network blocks the RingVPN connection, or your WiFi access point. To confirm this, check that your cellular carrier provides a good internet/data connection in order for you to use RingVPN.
Finally, you can also try to change the connection protocol in settings > VPN Parameters > VPN Protocol.
When connecting to one of our RingVPN servers, we ensure that you have a solid internet connection with good bandwidth, and that your IP address is hidden --- before informing you that you are secured by RingVPN.
In certain cases, where there is an overloaded server, or your internet connection is slow, you may notice that you aren't be able to view internet pages or browse properly.
If this applies, we recommend that you disconnect from the current RingVPN server and consider selecting another one that is less overloaded.
Help! I am trying to log in to RingVPN via my iOS or Android device, but my e-mail and password are not recognised?
When you launch the RingVPN app on your mobile device for the first time, you will need to log in and identify yourself with the e-mail address and password you entered upon subscription to RingVPN.
You should have received an e-mail once you subscribed, in which you were invited to choose a password. If you don't remember the password you selected, or perhaps you didn't have a chance to select one yet, you can reset/set it by going to: https://ringvpn.com/password/reset.
Once your password has been set and you find that the connection still does not work, we recommend that you check to see if your subscription expired. Do this by securely logging into your member panel on our website at:https://ringvpn.com/login.

It's a good idea to check that your version of Firefox or Chrome is up-to-date and that you also have the latest version of the RingVPN extension. We also recommend that you confirm that your subscription to RingVPN has not expired. Sometimes, a subscription can lapse and that's why you cannot connect to the RingVPN service.
If your browser is updated and your subscription still active, but you still can't get onto a server, the next course of action is to check that your internet connection is working. Do this by opening your browser and navigating to a web page.
If it still doesn't work at that stage, we recommend that you try another RingVPN server on the extension. Then you'll be all set!
Firstly, we invite you to disconnect, wait 5 seconds and reconnect to the server in question. Then, try browsing: https://ringvpn.com to see if your location has changed and you're protected by RingVPN. If the inset indicates that your connection is not protected or that the page does not load, we recommend that you to connect to another server. It's possible that the first server is overloaded -- switching to another one should solve the problem!
If you are experiencing problems loading/streaming videos, first, make sure that you are connected to a server which is permitted to have access to the content. Streaming services often restrict their content to geographic regions. This is why it's important to connect to a server in a geographic location that permits streaming of the video content you want to view.
If the video content is looping, try loading the content into "Private Browsing". If this still doesn't work, we recommend that you to try the Windows/MacOS/Linux version of the RingVPN software. That's because some content going through an alternative protocol to HTTP is sometimes blocked by the RingVPN extension to prevent an IP leak. Switching it up can often remove the problem, so you can stream videos to your heart's content!
It's possible (but very rare) that you are connected to a server which then becomes unavailable because of too many simultaneous connections. In this case, your internet connection may be very weak. You must log out of the server to try another one, and you can do this by clicking on the RingVPN icon near the top bar of your browser and selecting "Logout". If that doesn't work, you may need to uninstall the RingVPN extension to force the disconnect, and then reinstall it.
